Both athletes succeeded in setting new world records for the fastest cumulative marathon times of 24:46:56 hrs and 27:26:15 hrs (or average marathon times of 3:32:25 hrs and 3:55:11 hrs, respectively) to complete 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days. Pizzi also set a new record for fastest time frame (female) to complete 7 marathons on 7 continents at 6 days 18 hours 38 minutes. All 15 competitors in the 2016 World Marathon Challenge succeeded in completing the event within 168 hours, or 7 Days. The Challenge started in Antarctica at 08:34 Sydney Time on 23 January 2016 and the last competitor finished hours before the 7 Day deadline of 08:34 Sydney Time on 30th January.
