Competitor bio:
Serge is taking part in the 777 as an experienced endurance athlete and as a father. Endurance has been part of his life for many years — not as a pursuit of performance, but as a way to structure long processes, learn how to live with fatigue, and remain present when things become difficult. After the loss of his son, Kenric, sport took on a different meaning. Running was no longer an escape, but a way of staying present in a life permanently shaped by loss. Over the past decade, Serge has completed more than sixty marathons and ultradistance races, ranging from 50 km events to 100-mile races, including multi-stage competitions in desert environments. These experiences taught him lessons no training plan ever could: how to listen to the body, how to navigate setbacks, and why recovery and long-term resilience truly matter. The 777 has been on his list for a long time — not to prove anything, but to experience the full journey. The appeal lies as much in the process as in the challenge itself: consistent training, working through fatigue, adapting to travel, and starting again each morning on a new continent, beginning in Antarctica. Alongside sport, Serge works as a massage therapist with a strong focus on recovery, overuse injuries, and supporting people carrying both physical and mental strain. Through this work, he is also involved in Vilomah, a non-profit initiative supporting families living with loss, as well as individuals affected by cancer and those around them. In this context, he has previously run long distances to create space for awareness and conversation — not as sporting achievements, but as acts of presence. He will take on this challenge alongside Monica. They approach it as a close team, sharing the same journey while each taking responsibility for their own race. Serge approaches this challenge with experience, curiosity, and respect — for the body, the process, and for life as it unfolds beyond planning. Kenric runs with him, always.
