2016 Results

Dan Cartica (USA) and Becca Pizzi (USA) won the men's and women's titles, respectively, in the 2016 World Marathon Challenge. Both athletes succeeded in setting new world records for the fastest cumulative marathon times of 24:46:56 hrs and 27:26:15 hrs (or average marathon times of 3:32:25 hrs and 3:55:11 hrs, respectively) to complete 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days. Pizzi also set a new record for fastest time frame (female) to complete 7 marathons on 7 continents at 6 days 18 hours 38 minutes. All 15 competitors in the 2016 World Marathon Challenge succeeded in completing the event within 168 hours, or 7 Days. The Challenge started in Antarctica at 08:34 Sydney Time on 23 January 2016 and the last competitor finished hours before the 7 Day deadline of 08:34 Sydney Time on 30th January.
